Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Target US Military Facilities in Syria Amid Rising Tensions

Two separate attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) targeted American military facilities in Syria's northeastern province of Hasakah. According to Lebanon's al-Mayadeen TV, an explosive-laden drone struck the US-run facility at Kharab al-Jir military base in Yarubiyah district, and shortly after, another combat drone attacked the US military base in the oil-rich town of Rumeilan. The extent of damage and possible casualties at the installations remain unconfirmed.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for the drone strike on al-Harir Air Base, located 45 kilometers north of Erbil International Airport, citing retaliation for US support of Israel's military actions in Gaza. The group has been linked to numerous recent attacks against US occupation forces in Iraq and Syria, emphasizing their opposition to American backing of Israel's war on Gaza.

The US House of Representatives recently passed a $14.3-billion military assistance package for Israel on November 2, awaiting Senate approval. Washington has consistently supported Israel's actions in Gaza as "self-defense" and has vetoed UN Security Council resolutions calling for a halt to Israeli aggression.

Israel's ongoing attacks on Gaza, initiated with Operation Al-Aqsa Storm on October 7, have resulted in widespread destruction, including hospitals, residences, and houses of worship. The conflict has claimed at least 21,672 Palestinian lives, with the majority being women and children, while another 65,165 individuals have sustained injuries. Tensions in the region remain high amid these developments.
